About Us
Galerija Makek – Paradiso was founded in 2000 in Zagreb and on the island of Rab. Over time, the gallery’s activities have evolved into the presentation of a collection built over 20 years of work, primarily through organizing art colonies known as the Art Colony Paradiso.
The goal of Galerija Makek – Paradiso is to present and promote modern and contemporary Croatian and European visual art. This is achieved through a permanent display, as well as solo and group exhibitions centered around thematic or stylistic concepts, along with collaborations with Croatian and international artists.
The gallery’s activities are realized through core initiatives:
– Organizing the art colony named Art Colony Paradiso
– Curating and hosting art exhibitions
– Building an art collection
Current activities of the collection include:
– Sale of artworks
– Artwork rental and interior styling services
– Exhibition organization
About collection
The Makek – Paradiso Gallery Collection comprises around 1,500 artworks signed by 413 authors from 38 countries. The collection was enriched with artistic works from 2000 to 2020 during the sessions of the Art Colonies organized under the institutional guidance of Mr. Zlatko Makek.
During the active years of the Art Colony Paradiso, a collection emerged that stands as a testimony to a significant artistic chapter — one of international collaboration, exchange, and creativity that left a lasting mark on contemporary art.
