Mustafa Skopljak – Butterfly

Mustafa Skopljak (1947 – 2015) was one of the most prominent visual artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina, known for his work in sculpture, painting, and installations. He was born in Kotor-Varoš and spent most of his life in Sarajevo, where he had a significant artistic and pedagogical career.

He completed secondary art school in Sarajevo in 1970 and then enrolled in the Pedagogical Academy, Fine Arts program, which he finished successfully. After the establishment of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, he graduated in 1977 in the class of Professor Alija Kučukalić. He completed his postgraduate studies in 1988.

Skopljak was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1972. From 1993 to 1998, he worked on puppets, stage, and costumes for puppet performances at the Youth Theater in Sarajevo. He also taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Department of Sculpture, and at the Pedagogical Academy in Mostar, Department of Art Education. His body of work includes numerous solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally.
